About

My name is Peita-Claire Fothergill (nee Hepperlin). I am a former soccer player and member of The Matildas- Australian Women's Football Team. I competed at the 1999 Women's World Cup and the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
I have a Master of Counselling degree, am Level Two Gottman Method Couples Therapy trained, and am a registered Australian Counselling Association (ACA) member.
My counselling philosophy is rooted in the belief that each individual and couple possess the inherent ability to grow, change, and overcome challenges. I adopt a client-centred approach, emphasising empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness in my interactions. This framework creates a supportive, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered.
I integrate techniques from The Gottman Method, a research-based approach to couples therapy developed by Drs. John and Julie Gottman. It focuses on strengthening relationships by improving communication, building trust, and resolving conflict constructively. The method is grounded in decades of research on what makes relationships work. Couple Therapy suits people at any stage of their relationship, whether you're experiencing challenges or want to deepen your connection. It can help with communication issues, conflict resolution, rebuilding trust after infidelity, navigating life transitions, or enhancing overall relationship satisfaction.
